Cambodia: Implement UN recommendations and ensure the independence of the judiciary

Today, the ICJ joins Lawyers’ Rights Watch Canada and the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute in supporting the call by the UN Special Rapporteur on Cambodia to increase women’s presence in Cambodia’s legislature, judiciary, legal profession, human rights organizations, and civil society.

The ICJ further deplores that Cambodia continues to resist UN recommendations to reform abusive laws that serve to harass human rights defenders and dissenting voices, and to reform judiciary laws to ensure judicial independence and impartiality.
