Human Rights Council: ICJ oral intervention on the situation of human rights in Syria

The ICJ made an intervention in the Human Rights Council during the Interactive Dialogue with the Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights following her update report on the situation in Syria.

The ICJ called for support to be provided to the Commission of Inquiry on Syria, including by way of unimpeded access to all individuals and information requested under its mandate.

It urged all States to push for the Security Council to address the systematic and widespread violations in Syria, many of which amount to crimes against humanity within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC), including be referral of the situation to the Prosecutor of the ICC
