ICJ TRAINING ON EFFECTIVE USE OF UN HUMAN RIGHTS MECHANISM

The UN system of human rights protection has a range of instruments which are binding for States that are members of the UN or which are parties to specific instruments. Together they form a complex system of human rights protection which remains available for individuals who allege violations of their rights and those who defend them. Yet, these mechanisms often remain not sufficiently known by practitioners.

On 30 June 2022, the ICJ is organizing an informal online training seminar for lawyers in Turkey. The goal of the training is to allow lawyers and human rights defenders to effectively use UN human rights mechanisms, including the UN Treaty Bodies and the UN Human Rights Council procedures.

A total of ten interested CSO members and lawyers will be selected for the training.

The training will be conducted by the ICJ’s experts as well as invited experts including those working within the UN system who can share valuable insights about the effective use of the UN human rights protection.

The interested candidates should be members of the Bar Association in Turkey or should be members of NGOs who carry out litigation and bring or plan to bring cases before the UN bodies.

The working language of the training is English. Therefore, a candidate should have a working level of the English language.

The interested candidates should register online here.

The number of participations will be limited we therefore recommend to register as early as possible.

The event flyer is available here.
