An ICJ delegation will visit Tunisia from 26 to 31 October to gather information on the independence of the judiciary and assess the functioning of the legal profession.
The delegation is composed of three renowned experts: Mr. Serge Petit, a judge at the French Court of Cassation and member of “Libre Justice” – ICJ’s French section; Mr. Christian Grobet, Member of the Swiss National Parliament and Swiss lawyer; and Ms. Margaret Owen, British Barrister. Two staff members of the ICJ Secretariat will participate in the mission.
The ICJ will seek to meet with government officials, parliamentarians, members of the judiciary, lawyers, academics and other members of civil society in order to undertake a full and fair evaluation of the state of judges and lawyers. The ICJ will thereafter publish a report of its findings.
