Nepal: human rights concerns and the proposed transitional justice mechanisms date

The ICJ and the Transitional Justice Law Committee of the Nepal Bar Association are organizing a High–Level Interaction Program on general amnesty, case withdrawal and pardon.

The programme, Human Rights Concerns and the Proposed Transitional Justice Mechanisms, is being organized in the context of recent government plan to grant an amnesty for past human rights violations including the crime committed during the a decade long armed conflict. This progamme aims to bring together about 100 participants from different policy level institutions including government attorneys, legislators, members of the judiciary, human rights defenders, lawyers and other senior stakeholders to discuss on the serious issues of a general amnesty, case withdrawal and pardon.

Mr. Kedar Nath Upadhayay, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, will be the chief guest, Attorney General of Nepal, Mr. Mukti Pradhan, Former Attorneys Dr. Mr. Yubraj Sangroula and Mr. Badri Bahadur  Karki will be the panelist  of the program.
