The ICJ today released a report, The Death Penalty: Condemned, in which capital punishment is found to violate international human rights law.
The report contains papers presented at an roundtable organised by the ICJ on the abolition of death penalty during the 1999 session of the UN Human Rights Commission. Attended by over 100 participants, including State representatives, the roundtable built support for an abolitionist resolution.
